Ron Paul’s presidential campaign isn’t about a man who has a sickening desire for power and control. His campaign isn’t just about becoming president. Rather, it is about spreading Libertarian ideals that have not been gaining the momentum they should in the past 50 years.

LAKE JACKSON, Texas– 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul remains competitive in the race for the nomination according to a new Reuters/Ipsos Poll.

Paul scores a solid second with 21 percent of the vote, faring better nationally than fellow GOP competitors Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich.  These latest numbers show Paul gaining on his main competitor nationally, Mitt Romney, whose support seems to be fading with 29 percent.  Paul’s support grew by 5 percentage points nationally since January, while Romney has seen a 30 percent decline in his support since January.

“This poll further illustrates that Ron Paul is emerging as the real conservative alternative to Mitt Romney, and that he can also obtain the needed support from Independents and disenfranchised Democrats to defeat President Obama in November.” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

This poll follows a January 30th GallupPoll showing Paul within the margin of error of defeating Obama.  Also, a January 16th CNN/ORC Poll showed Paul and Obama in a virtual tie in a general election showdown.

Upcoming Ron Paul Money Bomb and Government Over-Reach

A Ron Paul Money Bomb is coming up on September 17. Please help get the word out about Ron Paul and this fundraiser. Although Ron Paul’s support is extremely strong and dedicated, his message is often overshadowed by the status-quo messages of the GOP front-runners. Click here to donate.

Ron Paul understands that when the Federal Government over-reaches it’s constitutional powers, it takes away from the rights of individuals. Not only does government over-reach take away our rights, but it is also negatively effects the individuals’ finances.

Why is the price of college education continually on the rise? Because of government over-reach. If government didn’t enter the business of financing college education, college tuition would be much more affordable. It would be possible for lower and middle income parents to save for college tuition for their children or it would be possible for a student to work their way through college. However, since the federal government began giving out loans to virutally every student who has asked, colleges and universities have increased their tuition drastically year after year as the government year after year has flooded the college tuition market with more money. The price competition or stabilizer in higher education has basically been stolen by the government as colleges know that the government will subsidize or loan out whatever money is necessary for students to pay for college. What are students left with as a result? $50,000 + (a conservative number) bachelors’ degrees. This $50,000+ doesn’t even include the cost of most of the interest that will be owed. Life and opportunities can be affordable, but not with government over-reach.

The hyper-inflation caused by government doesn’t end with tuition. After all, it was the federal government that was instrumental in the mortgage bubble (learn about Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc). Sky rocketing healthcare costs can also be attributed to the hand of the federal government.

Is Ron Paul, or his supporters, anti-government or unpatriotic? Not at all. We love this country and the ideals it was founded on. No other country was founded on principles as great as the United States of America! Granted, I and every other reasonable American will concede that we have a blemished past (i.e. slavery), however, the principles of the founding of this country is what can bring freedom and liberty to all and it is time that as Americans we stand on those principles. Along those lines it’s also time that we stand on the American principle that it is not government’s role to determine who are the winners and losers in regards to economics or liberty, but rather to give every individual their God-given right to pursue happiness and opportunities. The over-reach of government doesn’t lead to to liberty for all, what it leads to is tyranny.

With that said, I will leave you with these quotes of wisdom to ponder and share:

“If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”
Samuel Adams

“Every step we take towards making the State our Caretaker of our lives, by that much we move toward making the State our Master.”
Dwight D. Eisenhower

“They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.”
Benjamin Franklin

“The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.”
Patrick Henry, American colonial revolutionary

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government – lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”
Patrick Henry

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Abraham Lincoln

“It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government.”
Thomas Paine
